Baker Hughes Masoneilan is recognized as a leading global supplier of Hot High-Pressure Separator (HHPS) level control valves for hydrocracking processes using slurry and ebullating bed type reactors with their unique fluted plug trim technology.
We have now added a Patent-Pending additive manufactured enhancement that delivers increased service life to a widely recognized difficult application. For the 74000 Series, Masoneilan has developed a proprietary additive metal layering technology delivered through a digital metal printing process that uses laser-directed energy to fuse powdered metal tungsten carbide onto an Inconel substrate.
Where the service conditions and eroding fluid fines of residual hydrocracking has quickly destroyed lesser designs, this solution surrounds the proven fluted trim design with an additive cladding that will measurably extend the service life of the valve trim. Extensive lab validation has supported the product release and field installations that began shipping from Masoneilan’s Conde, France facility in December 2020.

With its innovative design and construction, the 74000 Series is designed to withstand thousands of pounds of pressure, high-pressure drops, severe coking conditions, erosive fluid particles, and various other challenges.
- The fluted trim provides additional lower guiding for added stability and vibration resistance. This trim is hardened with application-specific materials such as tungsten carbide to ensure minimal chipping and a lasting finish. 3D laser printing technology injects tungsten carbide for a perfect seal.
- Provision is made for the introduction of a flushing medium which may be necessary when passing fluids containing solid particles, or to prevent coke formation in refinery service at extremely high temperatures.
