STAR X™ Rupture Disc

The STAR X rupture disc has low burst pressures and includes a wide range of construction materials as well as our precision failure-initiating indent to precisely control disc buckling at exact pressures.

The STAR X covers low burst pressure ratings in the TRX line of scored, reverse-acting rupture discs. Learn more about the ULTRX, for high-pressure applications, or the MINTRX, for mid- to low-pressure applications.

  • This reverse-acting rupture disc is ideal for primary and secondary system relief protection or, when used to isolate a safety relief valve, provides an effective means of fugitive emission control. Additional system-protection applications include installation in transfer piping, chemical reactors, pressure vessels, storage vessels and heat exchangers.

  • The STAR X rupture disc features:
    • A safety ratio of 1.5 or less – designed so a damaged rupture disc will provide pressure relief at or less than 1.5 times the rated burst pressure of the rupture disc
    • Operational capacity in pressure-to-full-vacuum cycling without additional vacuum support
    • A standard zero manufacturing range and an optional -5% or -10% manufacturing range
    • A permanent flow-direction tag for visual verification of proper orientation
    • Our precision failure-initiating indent, to:
      • Weaken thicker materials to achieve low reversal pressures: the use of thicker materials also provides sturdier and more corrosion-resistant discs
      • Ensure thicker material properly collapses and fully opens along the score line.
      • Help ensure the rupture disc dome will not fragment.
